The United States Government made the decision to drop an atomic bomb over Hiroshima and Nagasaki, totally destroying both cities. The use of one atomic bomb was necessary in Japan. The second was unnecessary and inappropriate. The right decision had been made to drop the first bomb. The use of the bomb on Hiroshima might have actually saved lives for both the United States and Japan in the long run. By using it, the Americans were saved from having to make a land invasion on the Japanese main island, and thus saving an estimated one million lives. Also, according to previous invasions of other islands in the South Pacific, the Japanese would have lost two people for every on American lost. The result might have been two million or more Japanese dead. The Japanese made the decision to try and overtake the worlds largest superpower, and they had to face the consequences in one form or another. The use of the second bomb over Nagasaki was not needed. Rufus Stokes Profile Inventions Rufus Stokes was an inventor born in Alabama in 1924. He later moved to Illinois, where he worked as a machinist for an incinerator company. Rufus Stokes Air-Purification Device In 1968, Rufus Stokes was granted a patent on an air-purification device to reduce the gas and ash emissions of furnace and power plant smokestack emissions. The filtered output from the stacks became almost transparent. Stokes tested and demonstrated several models of stack filters, termed the clean air machine, in Chicago and elsewhere to show its versatility. Emotional intelligence considers the self regards of individuals which are the basis of self awareness, the understanding of individuals about others’ feeling that arises from the sense of empathy and altruism and compassion for others. The capacity of individuals to interact in the social environment determines their social skills which again is a part of the emotional intelligence of the individual. Emotional intelligence also determines the ability of individuals in controlling their emotions through the ability of taking the right decision at the right time and achievement of performance based functioning.
